Congratulations to the 2025 Carmel Girls Cross Country for winning the IHSAA State Championship. On 11/1/25 at LaVern Gibson Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, IN, the Greyhounds outdistanced Fort Wayne Concordia Lutheran High School by 29 points (100-129) to win their 9th meet of the season and bring the state cross country title to Carmel for the 2nd consecutive year. This was the Greyhounds 21st state championship in girls cross country. Leading the way for Carmel was Sadie Foley(Jr.) who placed 3rd overall which earned her All-State honors for the 3rd straight year. She was 18th in ‘23 and 12th in ‘24. Not far behind Foley and turning in All-State performances were Larkin Taylor(Jr.) and Annabel Pollert(Jr.) Taylor finished 10th out of 250 runners for the 2nd consecutive year despite improving her time by 15 seconds from last year’s State Meet. Pollert turned in another All-State performance by placing 22nd overall and secured important points for the Greyhounds by outdistancing front runners from other closely competing teams. She was 17th in 2024. After Pollert, sophomore Margo Halle was 38th and 2nd Team All-State for the 2nd consecutive year. The final scorer for Carmel was senior Kaitlyn Oshimura who was competing in her first state cross country final. Her 19:10 finish was fast enough to outdistance the pack of second place Fort Wayne Concordia. Finally, Anna Yoon(Jr.) and Lilliana Cate(Sr.) secured the victory for the Greyhounds. Yoon and Cate competed strongly in the first ever state cross country finals. Foley’s race comes with a twist. She was injured during the start of the 1600m final in the 2025 State Track Meet on 6/7/25. After being stepped on and falling to the track, the race was stopped and re-started. Foley finished 5th in the 1600m and 2nd in the 4 x 400m run despite learning the next day she had suffered an avulsion bone fracture. She missed 2 months of running and relied heavily on cross-training to keep her fitness level. Larkin Taylor, too, overcame a nagging leg injury and only ran 3 or 4 days a week the last 5 weeks of the season and stayed fit with cross-training. In winning the program’s 21st state championship, the TEAM continued a winning trend since this time last year. Since November of 2024, Carmel Cross Country and Track has won the 2024 state XC championship, 2025 indoor track and outdoor track championships, and the 2025 state XC title. Next up the TEAM in the NXR Championships at LaVern Gibson on 11/16/2025. At stake is a berth in the NXN Meet in Portland on 12/6/2025. Go Hounds!
