The #3-ranked boys' varsity soccer team played the #19-ranked Zionsville Eagles for the IHSAA Sectional 9 championship today at Noblesville and won 2-0. The Greyhounds tallied their first goal midway through the first half, when senior Quinn Wu hit a nice long ball to senior Troy Enslin, who fought for the ball and hit a beautiful shot to the near post. The score remained 1-0 at halftime. The second half was a stalemate, with both teams working hard, when late in the game, junior Mikey Kubek served in a corner and senior Gavin Fleming got his head on it to give the Greyhounds a 2-0 lead with just over 3 minutes to play. The final score was 2-0. Junior Gray Morgan recorded the shutout in the win. The Greyhounds move on to play Lawrence North in a rematch of last year's IHSAA Regional Semifinal on Wednesday, October 15, in Murray Stadium at 6:00. The win today moves the Greyhounds' record to 14-1-3 on the season.
