Boys Cross Country Opens Season at Northview

The boys cross country team opened its 2025 season at the John Cleland Invite at Northview, hosted by Zionsville, against 22 other complete teams. In the freshman/sophomore race, Carter Kellett kicked off his high school career with a second-place finish in 13:04. A strong pack of sophomores followed in quick succession with Cameron Scher-Millan (6th), Grant VanNahmen (7th), Grant Parkevich (11th) and Nixon Trisler (12th) rounding out the scoring. The 'Hounds won with 38 points ahead of a tight race for second between Homestead (87 points), North Central (94 points) and Hamilton Southeastern (97 points). Sophomore Neil Hackman had the most improvement from last season's event on the team, lowering his 4000-meter time by 5:04. In the junior/senior race, the 'Hounds finished ninth as a team with 266 points. Juniors Kerolos Khalil and Zach Judy were the first two Carmel runners to the finish in a competitive field. With results of the two separate races combined, the 'Hounds were seventh with 171 points, all five scorers from the frosh/soph division.
