Carmel High School proudly announces the renaming of the featured court at the Todd Witsken Tennis Center to "Rajeev Ram Court". Carmel Clay Schools has always been focused on creating lifelong learners that make an impact on the world with their positive attitude and giving back to the community. There are times when an individual takes that mission to the fullest extent and leaves a legacy for generations to follow. Rajeev Ram is a Class of 2002 graduate of CHS and embodies the pursuit of excellence our city and school district embraces. Rajeev is a household name in American professional tennis. After being a two-time IHSAA Singles Champion, he later went to the University of Illinois where he helped the Fighting Illini go undefeated and win the 2003 NCAA National team championship. Professionally, he has been ranked world number one in men’s doubles. Ram is a six-time major champion having won the 2020 Australian Open, the 2021 US Open, the 2022 US Open, and the 2023 US Open in men’s doubles. He also captured the Australian Open mixed doubles titles twice. Prior to his retirement from playing Singles in 2017, Rajeev reached a career-high ranking of world number 56. Also on the international stage, Rajeev has represented the United States, winning a silver medal with Venus Williams at the 2016 Olympics and a silver medal at the 2024 Olympics with Austin Krajicek. While his accomplishments on the tennis court are the championships young players dream about, it is Rajeev’s contributions to his home community that separate him from others. The Rajeev Ram Foundation was formed in 2010 and raises money for college scholarships and tennis programs through EntouRaj for Kids. His foundation works to empower youth from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds through tennis and educational programs, fostering growth, inclusivity, and lifelong opportunities. A dedication ceremony to honor the renaming of the featured court to Rajeev Ram Court will take place in September at a date to be determined.
