The Carmel Girls Track & Field team delivered a record-breaking performance at the Hamilton County Championship on Tuesday night at Carmel Stadium, highlighted by three new school records, event wins across the track, and strong scoring in nearly every area of the meet. The Greyhounds finished as Hamilton County Champions, scoring 153.5 points to win the team title. Carmel finished ahead of Westfield with 100.5 points, Noblesville with 90, Fishers with 85, Hamilton Southeastern with 81, Hamilton Heights with 61, and Guerin Catholic with 48. The night belonged to the record breakers. Sadie Foley opened the fireworks in the 1600 meters, winning the Hamilton County title in a new school-record time of 4:46.15. Foley controlled the race from the front and closed out another historic performance in what has already been a remarkable season. A few events later, Larkin Taylor added another school record in the 800 meters, racing to victory in 2:11.86. Taylor’s performance gave Carmel another county champion and another major mark in the program record book. In the field events, Ellie Cooley joined the record-breaking parade with a huge throw of 138-06 in the discus, placing second overall and setting a new Carmel school record. Cooley’s throw led a strong day for the Greyhound throws group, with Amyla Holder placing fifth in the discus at 123-07 and third in the shot put at 38-02.25. Norah Chase also scored in the shot put, finishing fifth with a mark of 36-00.75. Carmel also picked up a big win in the 3200 meters from Annabel Pollert, who took first place in 10:23.62. Margo Halle added important points with a third-place finish in 11:13.44. The Greyhounds closed the meet in style with a victory in the 4x400 relay. The team of Kaitlyn Oshimura, Elise Maurer, Kalinda Lee, and Gaby Grande Rosas ran 3:53.11 to win the final event of the night. Grande Rosas also had a busy and productive evening individually, placing second in the 400 meters in 56.35 and second in the long jump at 17-08. Carmel’s sprint group added several key points throughout the meet. Jenna Harris finished second in the 100 meters in 12.78 and third in the 200 meters in 26.70. Livi Miller placed fourth in the 100 meters in 13.03, fifth in the 300 hurdles in 46.64, and fourth in pole vault at 11-00. Farah Azeez also scored in the 200 meters, placing fifth in 27.58.
