Carmel Boys Volleyball closed out the regular season with a 23-6 record, marking the program’s best regular season finish since 2018 as the Greyhounds now shift focus toward postseason play. The Hounds finished the final week of the regular season with a 3-1 record, beginning with a sweep of top-five opponent Franklin Central before carrying that momentum into another victory over McCutcheon on Monday. On Wednesday night, Cathedral spoiled Senior Night in a dramatic five-set battle. Carmel opened strong before falling 22-25, 25-23, 25-21, 14-25, 6-15 in a match where the Greyhounds struggled to find consistency and rhythm throughout the evening. Carmel responded in impressive fashion to close the regular season, earning a dominant four-set victory over top-10 opponent North Central. The Greyhounds stormed through the opening set 25-9, before narrowly dropping the second 24-26. Carmel regained control from there, closing the match out 25-17, 25-20 to secure one of its strongest wins of the season heading into the postseason. Offensively, the Hounds were led by Jack Kovac, who delivered 15 kills while continuing to provide a major presence at the net. Dylan Kaiser added 7 kills, continuing his efficient play in the middle. Ian Czarnecki gave Carmel an important boost offensively, contributing 6 kills on 11 swings, while Thomas Kuehl added 10 kills of his own. At setter, Shep Spidel recorded a double-double with 48 assists and 10 digs, helping orchestrate Carmel’s balanced attack while anchoring the defense. Kuehl also finished with a double-double, totaling 10 kills and 11 digs in a strong all-around performance. The Greyhounds now turn their attention to what promises to be one of the marquee matchups in the state. Carmel will face perennial top-five rival Hamilton Southeastern on May 14th at 6:00 PM at Hamilton Southeastern in the opening round of sectionals. The matchup marks the first ever top-five meeting in the opening round of the IHSAA Boys Volleyball State Tournament era, setting the stage for a highly anticipated postseason battle between two of Indiana’s premier programs.
