Greyhounds Shine in Small-Group Showing at Zionsville Invitational

The Carmel Girls Track & Field team sent 11 athletes to the Zionsville Invitational, giving a focused group of Greyhounds the chance to compete against a strong invitational field. Although Carmel did not count toward the team score, the Greyhounds made the most of the opportunity with standout performances across the track and field events. Distance The distance group delivered one of Carmel’s strongest event-area performances of the meet. In the 800 Meter Run, the Greyhounds placed three athletes in the top five. Kaitlyn Oshimura won the event in 2:12.64, while Sadie Foley finished 2nd in 2:13.09 to give Carmel a 1-2 finish. Annabel Pollert added a 5th-place finish in 2:16.85. Carmel was also outstanding in the 1600 Meter Run, with Larkin Taylor finishing 2nd in 4:48.49 and Annabel Pollert placing 3rd in 4:51.16 against a loaded field. Sprints & Hurdles Gaby Grande Rosas delivered one of Carmel’s top sprint performances of the meet, finishing 2nd overall in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 57.41. Livi Miller competed in the 100 Meter Dash prelims, running 12.89 to finish 11th overall in a deep sprint field. In the 300 Meter Hurdles, Carmel had two strong performances. Miller finished 7th overall in 47.52, while Maija Gilhooly placed 9th in 48.15. Field Events Carmel picked up strong performances across the field events, with top-10 finishes in the jumps, pole vault, shot put, and discus. Gaby Grande Rosas added another quality mark in the Long Jump, finishing 6th overall with a leap of 16-6.75. In the Pole Vault, Livi Miller finished 2nd overall, clearing 10-6. Kate Hammond also had a strong vault, placing 7th with a clearance of 10-0. The throwers also had a strong day. In the Discus, Carmel placed three athletes in the top 10. Ellie Cooley led the Greyhounds with a 7th-place throw of 131-2. Norah Chase finished 9th with a mark of 121-8, and Amyla Holder placed 10th at 116-5. Holder also turned in a strong performance in the Shot Put, finishing 8th with a throw of 38-4. Across the meet, Carmel’s small group delivered a strong showing in a competitive invitational setting. The Greyhounds earned top finishes on the track and in the field, making the trip to Zionsville a productive step forward as the season continues. Go Hounds!
