The Carmel Girls Track & Field team put together an impressive performance at the 102nd Kokomo Relays, finishing 2nd overall with 99 points. Noblesville won the meet with 154.5 points, followed by Carmel, South Bend John Adams, Kokomo, Greenfield-Central, and Mt. Vernon. What made Carmel’s finish especially impressive was the makeup of the lineup. With prom taking place for many of the upperclassmen, the Greyhounds competed with a roster made up almost entirely of freshmen and sophomores, along with two juniors. The young Hounds stepped into big roles across the meet and showed the kind of depth that makes the future of the program very exciting. Carmel scored across nearly every event group, with points coming from relays, distance, sprints, jumps, and throws. It was a true team effort, and the Greyhounds proved once again that depth matters. Relays Carmel had a strong day in the relays, highlighted by a win in the 4x800 Meter Relay. Laya qualified 5th in 13.04, while Niah earned the final qualifying spot in 13.32. In the finals, Laya placed 6th in 13.35, and Niah finished 8th in 13.48. Hurdles The Greyhounds also had two freshmen gain valuable varsity experience in the 100 Meter Hurdles. Mackenzie Millis finished 10th in 19.50, while Katelyn Kenney placed 11th in 20.69. Both were part of Carmel’s young meet lineup and gained important experience against a strong field. Jumps Carmel scored well in the jumping events, with two Greyhounds placing in both the Long Jump and High Jump. In the Long Jump, Elise Maurer finished 3rd with a mark of 16-10, while Payton Hunter placed 5th at 16-0.75. Together, they added 10 points for Carmel in the event.
