Carmel Sweeps Fifth Ranked Franklin Central on the Road

armel Boys Volleyball earned a statement win on the road Saturday, sweeping No. 5 Franklin Central in straight sets (25-14, 25-23, 28-26). The Greyhounds came out firing, dominating the opening set before battling through two tightly contested sets to close out the match and secure one of their biggest wins of the season. At the net, Jack Kovac delivered a strong two-way performance with 7 kills and 5 blocks, playing a key role in slowing down Franklin Central’s attack. Eli Philistin-Lynch led the offense with 14 kills, continuing to be a consistent and reliable scoring option for the Greyhounds. Efficiency was a major factor in the win, highlighted by Lorenzo Orlando, who led the team with a blistering .750 hitting percentage, finishing with 6 kills. Defensively, Carmel was steady in the back row, led by Jett Burke with 15 digs, while Brice Hagaman added 13 digs, helping anchor the defense in extended rallies. Running the offense, Shep Spidel had another standout performance with 37 assists, while also reaching a major career milestone—2,000 career assists. Spidel is now on pace to set a new career assists record at Carmel High School. The Greyhounds continue to build momentum late in the season, stacking quality wins as they prepare for postseason play. Carmel will learn its sectional draw on the IHSAA TV Network on Sunday, May 3rd at 6:00 PM. The Hounds will wrap up the regular season with three home matches next week, beginning on May 4th against McCutcheon.
