Carmel Girls Track & Field Wins at Warren Central

The Carmel Girls Track & Field team put together a strong all-around performance Tuesday night at Warren Central, earning a team victory over Fishers and Warren Central. The Greyhounds scored 96.5 points to finish ahead of Fishers, who placed second with 40.5 points, and Warren Central, who finished third with 27 points. Carmel showed balance throughout the meet, picking up wins in the relays, sprints, distance events, hurdles, jumps, and throws. Team Scores 🥇 1st – Carmel — 96.5 🥈 2nd – Fishers — 40.5 🥉 3rd – Warren Central — 27 Carmel got strong contributions from every event group. In the field events, Gaby Grande Rosas won the long jump with a mark of 17’ 7”, while Livi Miller and Kate Hammond went 1-2 in the pole vault, both clearing 10’ 6”. The throws group also had a strong night, led by Ellie Cooley, who won the discus with a throw of 130’ 3”. Amyla Holder added a second-place finish in both the shot put and discus, throwing 37’ 7” in shot put and 128’ 2” in discus. The Greyhounds also swept the top three places in several running events. In the 1600m run, Ellie Smith won in 5:30.28, followed by Anna Yoon in second and Arden Finley in third. Carmel also went 1-2-3 in the 3200m, with Jade Gaczkowski winning in 11:49.76, followed by Ashley Kent and Abby Schilt. On the track, Grande Rosas continued her big night by winning the 400m in 59.31 and the 200m in 26.22. Kaitlyn Oshimura placed second in the 400m and fourth in the 200m, while Jenna Harris added a second-place finish in the 200m and fourth in the 100m. Carmel also had a strong night in the hurdles. Maija Gilhooly won the 300m hurdles in 48.57, with Miller finishing second in 48.77. Faith Tchuente Fotso placed third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.18. The relay events added more key points for the Greyhounds. The 4x800m relay team of Larkin Taylor, Kaitlyn Oshimura, Sadie Foley, and Annabel Pollert won in 9:23.59. The 4x400m relay team of Oshimura, Foley, Pollert, and Taylor also took first, finishing in 4:04.23. Carmel’s 4x100m relay team of Livi Miller, Gaby Grande Rosas, Kate Hammond, and Jenna Harris placed second in 49.91. It was a strong team performance from start to finish. Carmel won the meet with depth, balance, and contributions from every event group. The Greyhounds had athletes scoring big points, stepping into opportunities, and continuing to build confidence as the season moves forward.
