Carmel Boys Volleyball earned a hard-fought road win Monday night, defeating Fishers in five sets (22-25, 25-22, 25-21, 16-25, 15-11) and securing the program’s first win over Fishers since 2018. It wasn’t always pretty, but the Greyhounds found a way battling through momentum swings and leaning heavily on their presence at the net to control key stretches of the match. After dropping the opening set, Carmel responded by taking the next two before Fishers forced a fifth. In the decisive set, the Greyhounds steadied themselves and closed strong to secure the win. Defense at the net proved to be the difference, as Carmel totaled an impressive 20 blocks on the night. Jack Kovac led the effort with 7 blocks, while Ian Czarnecki came up big in key moments. Eli Philistin-Lynch also made a major impact defensively, adding 6 blocks as the Greyhounds consistently disrupted Fishers’ attack. Offensively, Carmel was led by Thomas Kuehl and Jack Kovac, who each recorded 10 kills, providing enough production in key moments to push the Greyhounds across the finish line. Despite not playing their cleanest match, Carmel showed toughness and resilience in a challenging road environment, finding a way to get the job done when it mattered most. Carmel moves to 17-5 on the season and return home tonight to host Lawrence North as the Greyhounds look to build on their momentum and continue their push toward the postseason.
