Carmel Boys Volleyball faced a tough test on Saturday, falling to defending state champion Roncalli before responding with a strong sweep of Jeffersonville later in the day. The Greyhounds were defeated by Roncalli in straight sets (25-17, 25-17, 25-13). Carmel struggled to find rhythm throughout the match, while Roncalli showcased its experience and discipline, particularly on the defensive end. The Rebels controlled tempo from start to finish, limiting Carmel’s offensive opportunities and capitalizing in transition. Following the loss, Carmel responded with a strong performance against Jeffersonville, earning a straight-set victory (25-15, 25-14, 25-18). The Greyhounds were efficient and balanced offensively, led by Jack Kovac, who recorded 9 kills and 3 blocks, making a strong impact on both sides of the net. Eli Philistin-Lynch continued his consistent play with 11 kills while hitting .391, providing a steady scoring presence on the outside. In the middle, Dylan Kaiser added 5 kills while hitting an efficient .444, continuing to be a reliable option and one of Carmel’s most efficient attackers. Carmel controlled the match with strong execution and improved rhythm following the earlier setback, showing resilience and the ability to respond. The Greyhounds return to action on Wednesday as they host Brownsburg, before traveling to Zionsville on Friday.
