Boys Volleyball Remain Hot with Victory over Center Grove

By Andrew Fuller | Apr 1, 2026 9:14 PM

Carmel Boys Volleyball stayed hot on Wednesday night, earning a straight-set win over Center Grove (25-17, 25-13, 25-21) and continuing to build momentum midway through the season. The Greyhounds controlled the match from the start, using efficient offense and consistent ball control to dictate tempo. Carmel jumped out early in the first two sets and never looked back, before closing out a competitive third set to secure the sweep. Offensively, Carmel was led by Eli Philistin-Lynch, who delivered another strong performance with 10 kills while hitting an impressive .692, continuing to establish himself as a go-to option on the outside. In the middle, Jack Kovac had a dominant all-around night, finishing with 9 kills on .444 hitting while also making a major impact defensively with 5 blocks, helping disrupt Center Grove’s offense at the net. Thomas Kuehl provided a big boost offensively and defensively, recording 12 kills on .450 hitting while adding 4 digs, showcasing his versatility and ability to contribute across multiple phases. At setter, Shep Spidel orchestrated the offense efficiently with 36 assists, while also contributing defensively and at the net with 4 blocks, keeping Carmel’s attack balanced and difficult to defend. As a team, the Greyhounds hit an efficient .383 while limiting errors and staying consistent in serve receive, which once again proved to be a key factor in the win. Carmel now turns its attention to a major test this weekend, as the Greyhounds travel to face defending state champion Roncalli on Saturday. The matchup marks the first meeting between the two programs in four years and will serve as an early-season measuring stick for both teams.
