Carmel Varsity surged past St. Xavier (Louisville) 16–7 on Friday, March 6, led by a balanced offensive effort with ten different scorers. Lincoln O'Leary paced the attack with four goals, while Luke Shrift, a sophomore, celebrated his first varsity goal. The team tallied five assists overall, with Coulter contributing three, and key contributors included McCord, Stitle, Chappa, Warren, Gates, Bardwell, and Dvorak. Carmel dominated the unsettled game and possession metrics. Eli Chappa scooped up 14 of the team’s 38 ground balls and controlled the faceoff circle with 13 wins (.765). In goal, Will Bates made 11 saves on 18 shots on goal, and freshman Logan Lockner recorded his first varsity save, adding depth to the crease as the season opens. The defense played a decisive role, forcing turnovers that repeatedly set the offense up for fast breaks and scoring opportunities. Anderson, Quigley, Odle, Huber, and Firette each recorded at least one forced turnover, with Huber leading the unit by causing three turnovers. Their pressure and discipline helped tilt possession in Carmel’s favor throughout the game.
